During Museumnacht010, visit Lise Lou Sore's solo exhibition, Echo of home, at Studio Seine. In Echo of home, Lise Lou Sore explores how uprooting, vulnerability, and inner experience all influence each other. Landscape elements interact with self-portraits on transparent cotton. A monumental panorama, ten meters wide, shows places where Sore feels at home, combined with memories of the landscape in which Sore grew up.

Born in Niger to expat parents, Lise Lou Sore grew up in the warmth of a close-knit community. Then, the family abruptly moved to the Netherlands. This uprooting and constant adaptation form a recurring theme in her work. Transparent self-portraits float in space, moving with their surroundings and offering a compelling encounter with vulnerability. Echo of home is an invitation to wander through the inner landscape and reread memories.

The human inner world, with all its varying moods, is a recurring theme in Lise Lou Sore's oeuvre. With her gigantic nude self-portraits, painted in chalk on cheesecloth, Sore reveals the lived experience of extreme emotions. Feelings that are universally relatable, yet often feel incredibly lonely when experienced.
