Experience Disco Inferno: an industrial monster of roaring machinery, strung together with a tangle of pipes and hoses. Every detail in this installation has been handcrafted by Atelier Van Lieshout (AVL); every weld and bolt has been meticulously crafted. The machines run on almost anything that burns: from used frying fat to home-burned pyrolysis oil.
The entire system exists solely to keep itself running. The residual heat from the enormous diesel engines is reused for the project's final destination: "the happy ending of everything spa." With Disco Inferno, Atelier Van Lieshout explores the boundary between fascination and greed. As long as there's oil or plastic waste, we can keep dancing on the volcano's rim. It's a work that is never finished and continues to change over time.
