James Aldridge is known for the duality hidden in his work, through the layered imagery and the constant reflection he asks from the viewer. Although his paintings are of standard large and robust size, he simultaneously incorporates hundreds of minute details into all his paintings. To actually understand an Aldridge painting, you will have to continuously zoom in and out, move away and then get closer again. Only in this way can every detail find its meaning in the context of the bigger picture. Even when the light goes out, the works live on.

Koos Breukel is driven by curiosity about people and every photo is the result of an encounter. How those meetings go is unpredictable.
