During Museumnacht010 you can marvel at the duo solo exhibition of Tom Woestenborghs and Florens Kool in the Frank Taal gallery.

Visual artist Tom Woestenborghs uses photographic images as a basis for collages. He collects and archives images from newspapers, magazines, videos and the internet that he uses later. His work appears photographic, but in fact it is collages made of many layers of adhesive plastic, up to twelve layers. Trained as a painter, Woestenborghs switched to adhesive plastic because this material has a brighter effect than paint. He shows his collages as ‘paintings’ but also as light boxes.

Florens Kool uses classical painting techniques and skills in his work to depict everyday settings and objects and place them in an unexpected perspective. He incorporates contemporary subjects into balanced compositions. Due to its size and precision, his work evokes attentiveness in you. At a time when we are repeatedly confronted with fast and sensational impulses and often impressions aimed at consumption or entertainment, Florens’ work gives space to the less sensational aspects of our everyday environment.
