The exhibition Treat with Care while Aging explores the theme of identity through metaphors of nature. Upon entering MaMA’s showroom program maker Je-Anne Dirksz invites you to find new ways to plant yourself in her garden sanctuary.

The question “Kico bo a cosecha te awo? – What have you harvested so far?” reflects on what you have gathered through the seasons of your life – experiences, struggles, triumphs, and the lessons, growth, and understanding that come with time. The harvest includes not just memories of where you come from, but the strength to build anew, even amidst uprooting.

Within the natural world, these cycles are illustrated beautifully. The sun rises and sets, trees bloom and drop their blossom, and rain renews the soil. Reflecting earth’s rhythm, human beings adapt and evolve, while they remain deeply rooted in their essence.

Treat with Care while Aging asks you to reflect not just on what you have lost or left behind, but on what you gain through the process of transformation – patience, resilience, and adaptability. Participating artists: Justin Croes – Cem Altinöz – Cloe Blansjaar.

See yourself as a garden
Explore the exhibition Treat with Care while Aging and find your own personal connection with the artworks in MaMA’s showroom. Where are you now on your journey of growth? What does it mean for you to take root somewhere? How do you see yourself as a garden? You can harvest what you experience in the exhibition space, and create a small artwork on seed paper to take with you, gift to someone or leave for MaMA to plant nearby.
